Our regional needs assessment identifies the health and service needs of our region.

The 2025 Joint Regional Needs Assessment (JRNA) identifies the most important health and service needs of our population.

These needs were identified by working with Northern Queensland Primary Health Network and other healthcare partners and is based on:

  • what our patients, community, health partners, and staff told us
  • a review of our population health status, health risk factors, and health service use.

Health care priorities

Our JRNA identified the following priority health needs:

  1. Access
  2. Aged Care and ageing
  3. Mental health and wellbeing
  4. Chronic conditions
  5. Diverse population groups
  6. Specialised medical needs
  7. Preventative health
