The Women’s Health Unit provides inpatient or outpatient care for pregnancy, labour, postnatal care and for women undergoing gynaecological procedures.

Mobile Women’s Health Service
The Mobile Women’s Health Service (MWHS) provides services to rural locations in the Mackay Hospital and Health Service. The service aims to promote, maintain and improve the health and wellbeing of women in rural and remote parts of Queensland, particularly those who are geographically, socially or culturally disadvantaged.
This service is provided by the Mobile Women’s Health Nurse a Clinical Nurse Consultant who operates as a sole health service provider with support through the Mackay Hospital and Health Service.
Birth Centre
The Mackay Birth Centre at the Mackay Base Hospital was opened in 1994, by the women of Mackay for well pregnant women experiencing an uncomplicated pregnancy who wish a natural birth in a family environment.
Special Care Nursery
The 8 bed Special Care Nursery provides holistic neonatal care to unwell and premature babies for their ongoing health care needs.
Breast Screen
BreastScreen Queensland has been providing Queensland women with quality breast cancer screening services for 20 years. The aim is to reduce the impact of a breast cancer diagnosis and ensure you have the best outcome possible through early detection.
Sexual Health
The Mackay Sexual Health Service is a free and strictly confidential service that is committed to providing supportive, non-judgmental, quality clinical and counseling services.
