My job is …. a Senior Medical Officer in Psychiatry which entails inpatient duties in the morning and outpatient duties in the afternoon. In both areas I see patients, who are over 18 yrs old, and experience any form of mental illness.
I have been qualified …. as a Consultant Psychiatrist in the UK for five years, working in the North East of England. For the past three years I have specialised in treating people experiencing psychosis in the community. In addition I have a specialist interest in medical education, and had been the Training Program Director for our local Psychiatry Registrar scheme.
What attracted me to the role was …. a better quality life and the stunning local geography, as well as it being an opportunity to practice psychiatry in a different context.
I am most looking forward to …. meeting my new team and discovering what new opportunities are awaiting me. Everyone I have met in Mackay has been so open, friendly and helpful. It has been a real tonic for the soul.
In my spare time I am keen to …. experience as much as Mackay and the surrounds has to offer. In the UK I liked to catch up on the work I hadn’t managed to complete during the day, another reason to move!
