Mackay women are being encouraged to take advantage of BreastScreen Queensland’s Mobile Screening Bus this week while it visits Mackay Base Hospital.
The service is free and will be located in the Mackay Base Hospital Courtyard from September 1 – 5. No doctor’s referral is required.
BreastScreen Mackay service manager Narelle Rosmalen said women aged 50-74 are encouraged to have a mammogram every two years however women aged 40 and over are also eligible for a screen.
“Please take the opportunity while the mobile van is here to have your screen done locally,” Ms Rosmalen said.
“It doesn’t take long and remember; early detection is your best chance of surviving breast cancer.”
